About PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome): It is an endocrinopathy that usually affects the women of reproductive age (i.e women who are in the age to bear a child). It can be seen in women in the age of 16 to 50 years.

SIGN AND SYMPTOMS:

Lean Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome is diagnosed based on the physical appearance and ultrasound scan of the abdomen or pelvis. Physical examination can be done for acne and hirsutism (excess hair growth on facial skin).
Ultrasound scan reveals the presence of cysts in the ovary. The size and number of the cysts in the ovary can be studied through ultrasound scan of the patient.
TREATMENT OF LEAN POLY CYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME:
There are Several treatment options available to treat Lean Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome.
Allopathic physicians prescribe various medicines to treat symptomatically. To enhance ovulation and regularize menstrual cycle hormonal therapy is given to the patients that include progesterone or combination therapy.
In Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome, advising patients for weight loss is the first line of treatment. While in lean Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome, weight management is not the first line of treatment option.
Though the patients suffering with Lean Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome must be advised to have a check on their weight. Fresh fruits and organic vegetables should be included in the diet.

Insulin resistance is most commonly seen. To manage high blood sugar levels in the body, hypo-glycemic agents are prescribed.
